Usage guide
Ideally, to ensure your cat will accept this required procedure for its health care without trouble, i will need sufficient introduction and training. Ideally, the training should begin as early an age as possiblr for the kitten. This should be divided into several smaller steps.
The different small steps that should be practiced include a suitable cleaning position. For example, you cankneel and sit the cat on its back between your thighs. Seated like this, you can use one hand to hold the head and pull back the lips while the other hand applies the toothbrush.
You should reward each of these smaller steps (especially in the beginning) e.g. with treats, oetting or brief games. By using a clicker you can instruct the cat even more clearly what behaviour is desired (sitting still).
Further steps are the touching of the teeth and lips, and later the touching of each tooth with the toothbrush. As you practice, you should be able to touch more and more teeth and can eventually proceed to the actual cleaning. Please never attempt to force a cat to have its teeth cleaned. Even the taste of the toothpaste should be slowly introduced, by repeatedly rubbing small amount of it onto the teeth and gums.
The brush should always be softened with water before use. Press the toothpaste onto the wet toothbrush and brush the teeth and gums with small, circular movements, Clean the teeth of your pet carefully and never more than once a day.
